Pontiac originates from the Pontiac Buggy Company founded in Pontiac, Michigan, in 1893. In 1926, Oakland Automobile Co introduced the first Pontiac; the Five-Passenger Coach Pontiac. Selling over 75,000 units in the first year of production it was a huge success.

Already in 1929 more than 500,000 Pontiac's were sold and the rest is history.
